  • Aldus sends the rows it read, a file fingerprint and a few details of the file.
  • Aldus never asks for a store password or cookies and never signs in to a store account.
  • What is sent is used only to provide Aldus to you.

Sent for each file

File name
Shown in your import history.
File size
Shown in your import history.
Time the file was saved
Tells a newer download from an older one.
File fingerprint
A short code computed from the file, used to recognize a file you already imported. The file can’t be rebuilt from it.
Date range you downloaded
Only if you set it. Days in the range with no rows then count as days with no sales.
Report type
Which KDP report this is, and whether it is estimated or final.
Reader version
Which version of Aldus’s report reader understood the file.
Notes about skipped rows
How many rows were left out and why, with sheet and column names and row numbers. Never the values in those rows.
Position in a large file
Large files are sent in several pieces; this says which piece and which import it belongs to.

The file fingerprint is a SHA-256 digest of the file. Before you choose Add to ledger, it is the only thing sent, to check whether you already imported that file.

What never leaves your device

  • The report file itself. It is read in your browser and is not stored on Aldus’s servers.
  • Your store password. Aldus never asks for it.
  • Cookies or a session from your store account. Aldus never signs in to it.
  • The values in rows the reader left out.
